I am Linda Fleming. I have prepared taxes professionally for 10 years, first as a preparer for H&R Block and now for 5 years through my own business. I began my own business because I did not like charging the prices I had to at H&R Block. By doing taxes through my own business, I am able to set my own prices based more on time and actual cost than on how many forms the computer churns out. I use a licensed professional software package and am registered with the Internal Revenue Service. I do mostly personal returns, but I also do sole-proprietor businesses (Schedule C), rentals, and simple investment returns. If I feel that your return is more involved than I can handle well, then I will immediately suggest that you have them done by an accountant. I do not do non-1040 business and estate returns at this time.
I do not do bank refund loans, but this year the government has shut most of them down anyway. With my service, if you have a checking account, your refund should be in your bank account within 2 weeks of the time we e-file your return. There is absolutely no fee for this. I may be doing Visa cards this year for those who desire to use a separate card. I do require that you pay for your return when it is completed and before it is filed. If this is a problem, please talk to me, and we may be able to work out a 2-part payment. Since my fees average $60 as opposed to $200, it is usually not a hardship for someone to pay before filing.
I do not usually do walk-in returns. You can drop-off or make an appointment. If you make an appointment, I can usually do a simple return right then. Drop-off's* are done as soon as possible. Returns with W-2's only are usually done within 24-48 hours.
*If this is your first time, please bring in a copy of your 2010 return if possible. Also, have all names, social security #'s, and birthdates. Direct deposit requires bank routing # and account #. If you are filing as Married filing separately, I will need your spouse's name and social security # and maybe some additional information. Also, please bring your local income tax forms.
Just a note, the local income tax will be changing for 2012. Starting in 2012 all local income tax for Indiana County will be withheld and/or paid to Berkheimer. If you have questions concerning the percentage amount needed to be put on forms that you are filling out for your employer, please contact me.
